Building Materials Holding Corp. revealed Thursday, Dec. 11, that it will close its San Francisco headquarters and change its corporate headquarters address to Boise, Idaho, effective Jan. 1.

The new address will be: 720 Park Boulevard, Suite 200, Boise, ID 83712. The pro dealer and construction services provider has maintained offices at Embarcadero Plaza in a skyscraper overlooking the San Francisco Bay. Now the company will only maintain a small office in Bay Area, it said in a statement.

BMHC's roots are in Boise and the company has maintained offices there for its BMC West dealer business. "As BMHC continues to restructure its operations and administrative support functions to effectively address the severe cyclical downturn in the homebuilding industry, all locations are affected," the company said.

On Nov. 6, BMHC reported a $45.2 million net loss for the third quarter as sales fell 39% to $364 million. That was a swing from the net income of $4.2 million reported in last year's third quarter, when sales totaled $594 million. The dealer has also dramatically scaled back its construction services operations, pulling out of Florida altogether earlier this year, while consolidating and closing numerous distribution locations.

BMHC operates 35 distribution facilities, 53 manufacturing facilities and five regional construction services facilities.
