BMC, the nation's second-biggest full-service lumberyard, announced today it has named Michael McGaugh to the new position of chief operating officer, effective Feb. 20.
McGaugh's duties will include profit-and-loss responsibility for all field operations and leadership of the safety, supply chain, operations support, and purchasing departments. “His wealth of knowledge and experience, combined with his enthusiasm for success, will help advance our strategies to drive sustained profit growth," Peter Alexander, BMC's president and CEO, said in a news release.
McGaugh has worked more than 20 years at Dow Chemical Co., most recently as global director and leader of the Integration Management Office for the proposed Dow / E.I. du Pont de Nemours merger. Prior to that, he was regional vice president for Dow's North American operations as well as its region covering Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. He also was general manager of Dow Building Soluitons.
Atlanta-based BMC is the third-biggest company on the ProSales 100, with sales in 2015 of nearly $2.75 billion, of which roughly 90% went to pros.
