It's probably no surprise that, of the 25 counties with 5,000 or more units that showed the greatest percentage growth in housing in the 12 months ended July 1, 2009, at least five are in the swath of Gulf coast ravaged by Hurricane Katrina. But look beyond that region and there are lots of unexpected hotspots, including two counties in Iowa and one in South Dakota.
