84 Lumber announced the opening of a new facility in Cartersville, Ga. The truss plant, scheduled to be open by late December, is located on an 18-acre plot.

The facility will service and support the Atlanta metro market. 84 Lumber said the facility will also work in tandem with the existing plant in Oxford, Ga., “bringing component manufacturing capabilities to more customers.”

“With thousands in annual housing starts in the past decade alone, Atlanta is one of the fastest-growing markets, which is why we decided to expand our footprint here,” 84 Lumber vice president of installed sales and manufacturing Ken Kucera said in a prepared statement. “84 Lumber has made it a priority to invest time and resources in this growing market.”

The company has been servicing the Atlanta market since the early 1970s and expanded its presence significantly during the 2000s.

In addition to the Atlanta truss plant, 84 Lumber recently opened a new door shop in Denver and announced its plans for expansion in California. The dealer is also opening components plants in Winter Haven, Fla.; Columbia, S.C; and Boise, Idaho.

Eighty Four, Pa.-based 84 Lumber operates 310 facilities, which include 234 stores, 14 component manufacturing plants, 28 engineered wood product centers, and 34 door shops, in 33 states.
