84 Lumber announced the winners of its mid-year Team Headquarters Award Program. The dealer recognized Trevor Runk with the Business Excellence Award and Joe Jena with the Rising Star Award.

Runk, an inventory manager for 84 Lumber, joined the company in 2018. After starting as an operations manager, Runk was promoted to his current position nearly a year later.

“Trevor has been an invaluable asset to 84 Lumber,” vice president of inventory management Rich Scalise said in a prepared statement. “In his time as inventory manager, he has created a special-order window warehouse inventory system, a highly effective scanning system to enhance efficiency in our warehouse, and enhanced many other systems used to manage inventory.”

84 Lumber’s Business Excellence Award recognizes an associate who has demonstrated leadership skills, achievement, growth, and success at 84 Lumber.

“He has a profound empathy for our associates’ needs, and a willingness to accommodate requests,” Scalise said. “His loyalty to the company belief that nothing is impossible is the perfect example of what business excellence at 84 Lumber is all about.”

Jena, the director of talent acquisition for 84 Lumber, began his career as a recruiter in 2019 and was promoted to the role of senior recruiter in December 2021.

“Joe has done a phenomenal job stepping in the director of talent acquisition role,” 84 Lumber chief investment officer and head of human resources Paul Yater. “He is focused on helping our stores and locations find great associates and helps recruiting be great partners. Joe lives and breathes the 84 culture.”

The Rising Star Award recognizes up-and-coming associates at the company who have had “a significant impact on their team and has a bright future with the company,” according to 84 Lumber.

“Trevor and Joe are really great representatives of the 84 Lumber culture,” Maggie Hardy, owner and CEO of 84 Lumber, said. “We have always taken pride in hiring the best people for our company, and it shows when we have associates like them to represent us in our day-to-day business.”

84 Lumber began its new awards program in 2022 to recognize and award associates at the company. Twice a year, 84 Lumber associates at headquarters can nominate fellow associates and the company leadership team selects winners.
