Building materials supplier 84 Lumber opened a new component plant in Winter Haven, Fla. The new facility, slated to open by the end of January 2024, will be 84 Lumber’s primary component plant in the state of Florida.

84 Lumber said Florida has historically been a strong market and the component plant will remain a priority in the state moving forward. The supplier said as it considers expansion, component plants are top of mind in its strategic decisions.

“Florida is an area where we are targeting immense growth,” 84 Lumber vice president of installed sales and manufacturing Ken Kucera said in a prepared statement. “Opening this new component plant has already proven to be a great success and we expect to keep the momentum going. This new facility will allow us the capacity to not only keep up with market demands but also expand our customer base.”

The 80,000-square-foot facility features state-of-the-art roof and floor truss building equipment and will employ more than 80 associates. The Winter Haven plant will cover the central Florida market, including Tampa and Orlando, as well as surrounding areas, according to 84 Lumber.

“This is an exciting time in Winter Haven,” Jim McMahon, general manager of the Winter Haven plant, said. “This area has seen dramatic economic growth in recent years. The opening of this plant shows that 84 Lumber remains dedicated to our pursuit of meeting customer demands. We are excited for what’s to come in the community as we open this new facility.”

84 Lumber recently opened truss plants near Atlanta, Ga., and Columbia, S.C. Additionally, the supplier opened a door shop in Denver and several new stores in California.

Eighty Four, Pa.-based 84 Lumber operates 310 facilities, which include stores, component manufacturing plants, engineered wood product centers, and door shops, in 33 states.
