Building materials supplier 84 Lumber announced the company’s first Team Headquarters Award winners. The company launched the program in 2022 to recognize and reward association at 84 Lumber. Andy Fossick, senior manager of traffic and logistics, was recognized with the Rising Star Award and Heather Kovaly, HR manager, was recognized with the Business Excellence Award.

“We are proud to continue the recognition of our associates here at team headquarters,” 84 Lumber chief operating officer Frank Cicero said in a prepared statement. “While the company continues to expand in 2023, it’s important to have top talent to support that growth. Andy and Heather have made a significant impact and I know they will continue to do so in the future.”

The Rising Star Award recognizes an “up-and-coming associate” at 84 Lumber. Fossick has been with 84 Lumber since April 2017 and has been in his current position since June of 2022. Fossick’s team assists stores with transportation and freight needs by communicating the most cost-effective way to ship materials.

“Every day, there is an opportunity to save the company thousands of dollars and Andy takes advantage of that, with passion and fervor. By expanding his railway knowledge, he has been able to negotiate numerous demurrage charges which has saved the company a great amount of money,” vice president of logistics and specialty buying Mitch Feldman said. “Andy has become a leader who has taken on the opportunity to train other associates in finding success.”

The Business Excellence Award recognizes associates who have demonstrated leadership skills, achievement, growth, and success at 84 Lumber. Kovaly joined 84 Lumber in July of 2019 as an HR generalist and was promoted to her current role in December 2021.

“Heather not only understands the company culture, but has also chosen to embrace it. She cares about all our associates and wants to do what is best for them, and our company,” 84 Lumber senior director of HR operations Angela Seaborn said. “She has become a great team leader and champion of development. Heather is known for always maintaining a positive attitude even when faced with a challenge. Over the years, she has become a great asset to the HR department.”

Eighty Four, Pa.-based 84 Lumber said it plans to expand into new and existing markets around the company to keep pace with its record growth.
