Carter Lumber opened a full-service lumberyard in the Louisville, Ky., market. The company said the opening marks a “significant enhancement” of its capabilities and service offerings to builders in the region.

Carter Lumber first began servicing builders and remodelers in Louisville in 2020 with a showroom, focusing on cabinetry and millwork. The company said the success of the showroom and demand in the market prompted Carter Lumber to expand its services to include a full-service lumberyard. The new Louisville location will officially open at the beginning of June, according to Carter Lumber.

Nate Christie, a professional with over 20 years of experience assisting builders in Louisville, will serve as the branch manager for the new Louisville lumberyard.

“Louisville was a natural fit for Carter Lumber. It’s a rapidly growing area and is near many of our current service areas,” Shawn Trattles, market vice president of Carter Lumber, said. “It was not long after we opened our showroom here, and customers saw how we were able to perform, that the calls came for us to also supply lumber and building materials. We are grateful to fill that need in Louisville and continue to show customers why we’re the best supplier in the industry.”

Akron, Ohio-based Carter Lumber serves professional builder customers through more than 170 locations across 13 states. The company operates four branded divisions: Carter Lumber, Holmes Lumber Company, Kight Home Center, and Kempsville Building Materials.
