Canfor Corporation will be curtailing production at all its British Columbia sawmills at the end of December, CKPG Today reports. The lumber producer cited the high cost of fiber and continued weak lumber markets for the two-week production cutbacks. Production curtailments have become common for Canfor in 2019, as it previously announced an indefinite curtailment at its Mackenzie sawmill, the permanent elimination of a shift at its Isle Pierre mill, the closing of its Vavenby sawmill, and a two-week production curtailment for all B.C. sawmills in July. In November, the forest products company announced plans to go private in a near-billion-dollar deal.
