The American Wood Council (AWC) announced the election of Charles Ingram Lumber vice president T. Furman Brodie as the chairman of the AWC board of directors for a one-year term, effective January 1, 2021. Additionally, PotlatchDeltic president and CEO Eric Cremers was elected first vice-chairman and TR Miller Mill Company president and CEO Ricky Stanley was elected as second vice-chairman.

“Furman has been in the wood products industry for over 28 years and has served on the AWC board for four years,” AWC president and CEO Jackson Morrill said in a news release. “He has an extensive history of service to the wood products industry, assuming significant leadership roles on many association boards.”

Fred Stimpson, president of Canfor Southern Pine, was elected to a third two-year term on the board and LP Corporation’s executive vice president Neil Sherman will serve on the board as the immediate past chairman.

“Neil has provided extraordinary leadership in a year filled with challenges related to the COVID-19 pandemic, guiding efforts to ensure the industry and supply chain were considered essential and that the association remained fiscally sound and viable in what were uncertain times,” Morrill said. “He has also overseen AWC’s first-ever CEO transition and has been actively engaged in ensuring it goes smoothly.”

In addition to Brodie, Cremers, Stanley, Sherman, and Stimpson, the AWC board of directors includes Marc Brinkmeyer of Idaho Forest Group, Mike Dawson of Norbord, George Emmerson of Sierra-Pacific, Allyn Ford of Roseburg Forest Products, Nate Jorgensen of Boise Cascade, Fritz Mason of Georgia Pacific, Kevin McKinley of Canadian Wood Council, Sean McLaren of West Fraser, Andrew Miller of Stimson Lumber, Keith O’Rear of Weyerhaeuser Company, Joe Patton of Westervelt, and Todd Payne of Seneca Sawmill.

The AWC represents 86% of the structural wood products industry. Staff experts with the AWC develop engineering data, technology, and standards for wood products to assure their safe and efficient design and provide information on wood design, green building, and environmental regulations.
