84 Lumber announced the winners of its end-of-the-year Team Headquarters Awards. The program, launched in 2022, recognises associates twice a year in two categories: the Business Excellence Award and the Rising Star Award.
The Business Excellence Award recognizes an associate who has demonstrated leadership skills, achievement, growth, and success, according to the dealer. Nick Nickells, pricing manager for manufacturing, was recognized with the accolade. Nickells joined 84 Lumber in 2002 as a design trainee and was promoted to his current role in 2014.
“Nick has demonstrated what it means to be an 84 Lumber associate,” Kurt Ott, director of technical services at 84 Lumber, said in a prepared statement. “Nick was instrumental in developing the pricing method used by our component plants. His positive attitude, willingness to roll up his sleeves at a moment’s notice, and responsiveness to the needs of our people are invaluable.”
The Rising Star Award recognizes up-and-coming associates with 84 Lumber. The accolade was given to Kathy Silver, phone receptionist/mailroom. Silver joined the company in February 2021.
“Kathy assists with a variety of jobs throughout the day, including answering and directing calls, putting together new hire packets, sorting 300 to 400 pieces of mail, and has been coming into work early every day to help clean while the janitorial staff is down an associate,” Matt Devore, maintenance and shipping supervisor at 84 Lumber, said.
The Team Headquarter Awards are given twice a year and 84 Lumber associates can nominate fellow associates.
“As we wrap up 2023, it is with great pleasure to announce our end-of-the-year THQ Award winners,” Frank Cicero, chief operating officer at 84 Lumber, said. “It is important for us to honor and reward the talent we bring in and recognize exemplary associates such as these two. We appreciate the hard work and look forward to their continued success.”
