84 Lumber is donating $50,000 to Germanna Community College’s Germanna Guarantee Scholarship Program. Since 1999, the dealer has made contributions to the community college’s scholarship program and other initiatives that benefit the program. 84 Lumber’s business partners at Culpeper Wood Preservers and Jefferson Homebuidlers are also donating $100,000.
“This gift of opportunity will give hope to these students and their families,” Maggie Hardy, owner and CEO of 84 Lumber, said in a prepared statement. “They’re the promise of America’s tomorrow.”
Located in Locust Grove, Va., Germanna Community College’s scholarship program has assisted students in need of financial assistance for the past 29 years.
“The Germanna Educational Foundation is deeply grateful for the generosity of 84 Lumber with this transformational gift,” said Bruce Davis, special assistant to the president at Germanna Community College. It will eliminate economic barriers to dozens of students, which keeps them on track for graduation, rather than delaying the process due to a shortfall of money. This is critical for our local economy, helping to create a steady pipeline of people entering the workforce.”
