New 3D printing technology can build a concrete house from scratch for $10,000. In a day. Born out of a collaboration between high-tech hardware and construction company ICON and affordable housing non-profit New Story, the 800-square-foot dwelling was fully permitted, too, meaning it was move-in ready. One of the tricks is coming up with a concrete mix, what this company calls Lavacrete, that can be extruded and set up quickly enough to allow another layer on top.
