Beacon Roofing Supply Inc. announced today it has acquired Phoenix Sales Inc., a distributor of commercial roofing systems and related accessories with four branches located in Tampa, Orlando, Pompano, and Fort Myers, Fla., and sales of approximately $20 million in 2009.

Co-founders Scott Hall and Jim Coston will remain part of Beacon's regional leadership team.

The announcement comes just two months after Beacon acquired Independent Building Materials, a distributor of mostly residential roofing systems and related accessories with one location in Orlando (story).

"We are very excited to have Phoenix and its experienced commercial roofing team join Beacon," Beacon president and CEO Paul Isabella said in a statement. "We now have a strong commercial roofing presence in central Florida to accompany our recently acquired residential roofing business. Florida presents a great long-term growth opportunity for our company and we are committed to expanding our footprint in Florida. The team at Phoenix shares our work ethic, company values, and dedication to customer service and we are proud to have them join Beacon.""

Peabody, Mass.-based Beacon operates 177 branches in 37 U.S. states and three Canadian provinces. It was the No. 5 company on last year's ProSales 100. In February, it reported that the net profit in its fiscal first quarter ended Dec. 31, 2009, shrank 58% to $7.8 million on a 20.6% slump in sales to $367.7 million.
