ProBuild Holdings announced Tuesday, April 1, it purchased the assets of Khempco Building Supply of Columbus, Ohio. The deal brings to ProBuild a lumberyard and truss facility in Delaware, Ohio, a truss plant in Dry Ridge, Kentucky, and a commercial door facility in Columbus. Terms of the sale weren't disclosed.
Dale Kukowski, president of ProBuild's North Region, said the acquisition "fortifies ProBuild's position in the Ohio market while strengthening our manufacturing and installed sales capability."
"Growth through acquisitions remains an important element of our corporate strategy," Paul W. Hylbert, ProBuild's CEO, said in a statement. "Our capital structure accommodates this kind of growth even in these challenging times, allowing us to continue to seek opportunities that support customer needs and fit into our long term strategy."
ProBuild, already the nation's biggest pro dealer, has been expanding significantly this year. Earlier in 2008 it acquired the LBM operations of HD Supply, taking in a group of yards and allied operations primarily in Florida and the Atlanta area. Also recently it acquired Jasper Lumber in the Atlanta area as well as Northeast Panel & Truss and Collins Truss Systems Inc. in Kingston, N.Y.
