Kevin Binam was named the new president and CEO of the Western Wood Products Association on Wednesday. Binam was chosen to fill the role by the lumber trade association's Board of Directors. He succeeds Michael O'Halloran, who will retire after the first of the year.
Binam has been the Quality Services Director for the WWPA since 2008 and oversees lumber grade inspection and quality control activities. The 12-year Association veteran has also served as Economic Services Director and was previously in charge of the Association's business information activities, including statistical reporting and forecasting. Before joining WWPA in 1998, Binam held positions at a number of Western mills in lumber grading, quality control and mill management.
The Portland, Ore.-based association represents lumber manufacturers in the 12 Western states and Alaska and is the region's largest lumber trade association. The WWPA delivers quality standards, technical, business information and product support services to the industry.
