Saint-Gobain, the French building material giant, today named John Crowe president and CEO of Saint-Gobain Corp., its North American holding company, and CertainTeed Corp., Saint-Gobain's North American subsidiary. Crowe will take over the position on Sept. 1.

Crowe will serve as Saint-Gobain's North American representative and will lead the corporation's Executive Committee, which was previously chaired by Gilles Colas. As the leader of Saint-Gobain Corp. and CertainTeed, Crowe will replace Peter Dachowski, who will retire on Aug. 31 after 35 years serving in Saint-Gobain's various divisions and companies.

"With more than 30 years of experience in Saint-Gobain's innovative materials businesses, John [Crowe] is an exceptional leader with strong operational skills," said Pierre-Andre de Chalendar, chairman and CEO of Saint-Gobain. "His appointment underscores Saint-Gobain's focus on leveraging its innovation and technical expertise to develop products and solutions that change the way we think about built environments."

Prior to being named to his new position, Crow served in various leadership roles throughout the company, including president of Saint-Gobain's global abrasives business and its performance plastics and crystals businesses.
