2015 ProSales 100

Small Numbers, Big Impact

While only one out of eight members of the ProSales 100 is a specialty dealer, this group accounts for 38.5% of the entire PS100’s sales. That’s in big part because specialty companies occupy half of the top 12 spots on the ProSales 100 rankings. In contrast, lumberyards without manufacturing operations account for 27% of the entire list but only 8.4% of the PS100’s total sales revenues.

Two Steps Shy of a Record

The $38.7 billion in sales racked up in 2014 by this year’s ProSales 100 is the third-best showing since the industry’s high-water mark in 2005 and 2006. The PS100 membership changes each year, particularly in the bottom third. This year’s group posted sales that beat last year’s class by 9.9%. Meanwhile, the top 10’s share of total sales continued to wane, reaching its lowest level since 2005.

Top 10 Dealers on the ProSales 100 by Type

The PS100’s billion-dollar club grew 33% this year by adding three new members: SRS Distribution, Roofing Supply Group, and US LBM. That means both specialty dealers and lumberyards with manufacturing capabilities have six firms each with at least $1 billion in sales. Meanwhile, only one dealer without manufacturing cracked the top 25.
