Three building material dealers were named grand prize winners of the 2011 ProSales Excellence Awards, the magazine announced today. TW Perry, of Gaithersburg, Md.; Sanford & Hawley, based in Unionville, Conn.; and Raymond Building Supply, in North Fort Myers, Fla., took home top honors in the most prestigious awards program in the construction supply industry. Both Raymond Building Supply and Sanford & Hawley won for their use of technology. TW Perry was awarded for its marketing efforts.
Stine Lumber, of Sulphur, La.; Parksite, a distributor out of Batavia, Ill.; Mountain Lumber in Boone, N.C.; Parr Lumber, based in Hillsboro, Ore; and San Antonio-based Allen & Allen all received merit awards for their work. Stine Lumber and Parr Lumber won for marketing, while Allen & Allen and Mountain Lumber won based on advertising campaigns. Parksite, the only distributor to win, won a merit award for its use of technology.
"What's particularly impressive about the 2011 ProSales Excellence Award winners is how they found ways to attract new business and improve their operations despite having to struggle through the worst housing market in decades," said Craig Webb, editor, ProSales magazine.
The Excellence Awards recognize outstanding achievements in a number of areas, including showroom design, facility design, technology, marketing, customer service, advertising, and website design.
Dealers and distributors competed in six specific categories: Best Advertisement, Best Marketing campaign, Best Website, Best Showroom, Best Facility Design, and Best Use of Technology.
"The awards program celebrates business leaders whose creativity and ingenuity have not only improved and reinvigorated their own companies, but also set benchmarks for service in the entire industry," said the magazine in a press release.
Entries were reviewed and winners were chosen by a panel of four independent judges. The judges this year were: Chris Rader, ProSales columnist and president, Rader Solutions, Lafayette, La.; Rick Davis, ProSales columnist and president, Building Leaders, Chicago; Bill Hayward, president, Hayward Lumber, Monterey, Calif.; and Holly Ruether, marketing director and showroom manager, Mathew Hall Lumber, St. Cloud, Minn.
Stories about each winning entry are featured in the just-released November/December edition of ProSales. The three Grand Prize winners also will receive a $500 check to give to the charity of their choice, while the five Merit Award winners will get $150 checks.
