Franklin Building Supply, based in Boise, Idaho, has been selected as ProSales' Dealer of the Year for 2016.
The award honors outstanding achievements in construction supply operations, management and innovations, as well as meritorious service to the dealer’s community and to the lumber and building material industry. ProSales selects only one construction supply dealer per year from more than 7,500 firms nationwide. (See past winners.)
“Franklin arguably does more things well over a more diverse territory than just about any other building material supplier in the country,” ProSales editor-in-chief Craig Webb wrote in his cover story on the company in the magazine's January/February 2016 issue. “This 16-unit, $111 million company operates in both a fast-growing urban area and in small towns. It has yards serving wealthy ski resorts and low-wage agricultural communities, plus one branch in a Nevada town that thrives or starves based on the price of gold mined there.”
Franklin also runs standalone showrooms, several truss plants, six door shops, a wholesaler of roofing and sheetrock, a millwork shop, a custom cabinetry firm, a granite fabricator, and units that install goods as varied as insulation, cabinets, floor coverings, doors, and wood stoves.
Franklin has won national awards for its TV ads and for showroom design. It’s an industry leader in consumer surveys and lean manufacturing. Franklin’s 40-year history of community service shows through in programs such as “High School Hero,” in which the company honors four students per year for promoting school spirit, serving the community, helping others, and being positive role models.
ProSales will present its Dealer of the Year trophy to Franklin Building Supply president and CEO Rick Lierz at a company event later this month, and will recognize Franklin again during the ProSales 100 Conference in New Orleans on Feb. 24-26.
