Charlie Coggins started his LBM career in 2016 at Professional Builders Supply, where he enrolled in the company’s 12-month management training program. After completing the program, he took on the role of project manager at the company’s Multifamily Division, responsible for the quoting, buying, and selling of materials for large projects. Although he didn’t know much about the role, Coggins was determined to improve each day.
“With zero customer contacts and experience, but a ton of willpower and desire to succeed, I remember selling zero my first month, then $5,000, then $25,000, then $100,000 and—before you knew it—I had helped our multifamily division grow to over $2M monthly,” Coggins told ProSales.
After a little more than two years as a project manager, Coggins was promoted to market president of a greenfield location at 27 years old, making him the youngest in the company to hold this title. “Within 30 days, we were operational with a full staff of a highly green, but nonetheless fantastic, team of pullers, drivers, inside sales, admin, etc. The launch was so successful with over $1M in sales in the very first full month,” he says.
The location achieved profitability after six full months of operation—another company record.
