Cason Shrode joined the LBM industry with a lot of street credibility. He graduated with a B.S. in business management and civil engineering from West Point Military Academy in 2007 and served six years as a field artillery officer in the U.S. Army. He then ran a specialty contracting division in the construction industry for more than four years. After all of this experience, Shrode joined Cassity Jones Building Materials in 2017 as its chief operating officer, and while only in the industry for a little more than two years, he has already made a big impact.
At Cassity Jones, Shrode introduced a delivery-tracking program to be more responsive to the needs of Cassity Jones’s customers. He revamped the company’s safety program to ensure that employees make it home safely. Shrode also led the implementation of a fleet-maintenance software to ensure the company is maximizing the investment on its capital assets. Plus, he established a leadership development program to recruit and train the company’s next generation of leaders for years to come, which helped land Cassity Jones a 2019 ProSales Excellence Award in the Education category. For his leadership and achievements, he was promoted to the president of Cassity Jones in August 2019.
“My primary career aspiration is simply to build a world-class organization that our employees, their families, and our communities can be proud of,” Shrode says. “Yes, we want to make money, but more so we want to have a lasting impact. We play a big part in not just building houses but providing people with their homes, and that’s a pretty important mission.”
