After serving 12 years in the U.S Marine Corps, in 2014 Michael Maglio became an operations manager at Allied Building Products in South Florida. Maglio, 35, quickly learned that the operations team was riddled with safety incidents and mishaps. So he led a safety policy effort, which earned his company a national safety award in 2015. “We went from a branch that was a constant safety hazard to [one] at the tip of the spear in safety,” Maglio says.
Two years later, Maglio shifted to sales. In December 2017, he was offered a position as an outside sales manager after Allied was acquired by Beacon Roofing Supply. His mission was to grow the firm’s concrete restoration and waterproofing business.
With his experience and success in operations, a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification and Certified Transportation Professional certification, combined with his proficiency in Spanish, Maglio jumped right in and helped his team host a series of educational classes for local engineers and general contractors to help cultivate relationships. This work streamlined and standardized the sales process to support manufacturer representatives, marking the second time Maglio standardized and improved company processes.
