The proposed 18-story Brock Commons building at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver is intended to house 404 students. It's also intended to serve as a test case for high-rise wood buildings in North America,

Most of Canada's provinces limit wood buildings to four stories, but in British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec, the limit has been raised to six. BUILDER, quoting from Global News, says "Timber-related industries hope Brock Commons will help make a case for building codes to allow 10- to 12-story wooden structures in the future."
