On Sept. 17, the National Building Museum will open its newest exhibit called Timber City. The exhibit will detail how to build with wood, the benefits of timber construction, and more. In anticipation of opening Timber City, the National Building Museum explored five common questions people have about building with wood.
The museum explained that timber buildings can be safer than steel buildings in case of a fire. It also discusses the ever pressing questions about forests and deforestation, explaining that the forests will be safe and healthy as long as they are managed properly. In addition, the museum notes that harvesting lumber "involves working with forests’ natural cycle to balance new growth and old, with no net loss."
