ProSales Survey Results Show Views on Non-Competes Run the Gamut
Your responses to ProSales’ online survey last month regarding non-compete were as diverse as any poll we’ve conducted lately. Take these two opinions, filed within minutes of each other:
“I believe that non-competes are important in controlling your customers and market. The days of the handshakes and ‘good old boys’ models of doing business are going fast. Any business that does not see this and take action will probably not be in business in the future.”
“A non-compete is un-American. We are supposed to have the right to support ourselves. If one person is so important to a company, that company should recognize it. That way there is no reason for the person to leave.”
Despite respondent No. 2’s comments, nearly 40% of those among you who took the survey said your company uses non-competes, and just under 35% of those who don’t now say they are actively considering whether to begin employing them. Click here for a summary of the survey, excluding comments. If you took the survey and didn’t get my e-mail with the full results, including participants’ comments, tell me.

Lowe's Building Boom Creates 170 New Competitors to Pro Dealers

And over 2007, Lowe’s has become 170 times more competitive. That's how many new stores Lowe's announced it would open or actually opened in 2007. At this pace, Lowe's should reach the 1,500-store mark in the U.S. before winter ends. We’ve created a roster of all the new stores, sorted by state.
