Study Examines Green Building Ratings
The American Institute of Architects in May released a study that assesses the effectiveness of three green building rating systems: Green Globes, SBTool 07, and LEED NC [for new commercial construction] 2.2. The report said Green Globes needs more stringent, specific requirements in energy reduction and operational performance. The U.S. Green Building Council's LEED NC 2.2 system works well and gives a good measure of environmental achievement, according to the report. And the International Initiative for a Sustainable Built Environment's SBTool 07 would be stronger if it had more required items instead of those users are just encouraged to include.
