The Parr Company, the Hillsboro, Ore.-based parent of Parr Lumber, will close three yards after the company said it has conducted an "efficiency review aimed at measuring the effectiveness of each store location."

In a statement released by the dealer on March 4, Parr said it will close locations in Madras and Redmond, Ore. on March 16, along with a location in Woodland, Wash. on April 10.

Parr noted that it will continue to serve customers in Central Oregon through their Bend, Prineville, Burns and Klamath Falls locations. Vancouver and Ridgefield yards will serve customers in Southwest Washington.

"Our economy has forced all businesses to look at their operating models to review efficiency," said David Hamill, CEO of Parr Lumber. "We found that we can service our valued customers in these key markets without the costs associated with a traditional retail storefront."

The Parr Company consists of six divisions including Parr Lumber Company, Parr Cabinet Outlet, Cascade Wholesale Hardware, NSC, NSCi, and Parr Marketing Group.

Parr operates 41 facilities in Oregon, Washington, California, Arizona, and Utah and ranked 14th on the 2008 ProSales 100 with total revenue of $372.7 million in 2007.
