Weyerhaeuser's $6 million capital investment to upgrade its EWP manufacturing plant in Natchitoches, La., is expected to retain 175 jobs and add 30 more, according to an announcement Monday from the Lousiana governor's office. The 250,000-square-foot facility makes Trus-Joist-brand I-joists, laminated veneer lumber, and Microllam structural header beams. The entire upgrade could bring as many as 77 additional indirect jobs to the area, the governor's office reports.
"Obviously, this is a great day for Louisiana," Gov. Bobby Jindal told The Town Talk of central Louisiana. "When you look at the national recession, Weyerhaeuser making an investment like this shows Louisiana can compete with any state in the country for new jobs."
