American Woodmark Corp., Wincheter, Va., promoted Cary Dunston to the position of executive vice president of operations. Dunston, formerly senior vice president of manufacturing and logistics will lead the kitchen cabinet and bathroom manufacturer and distributor's sales and marketing, manufacturing and logistics, quality, product development, and purchasing divisions.

"Cary has done an outstanding job of moving our manufacturing and logistics operations forward since joining the organization in 2006, including advancing our LEAN and Six Sigma programs, despite extreme market conditions," said Kent Guichard, the company's chairman and CEO in a statement. " He has made important contributions to our overall strategy and our recent return to profitability as a critical member of the senior management team."

Reutersreports that Dunston had served as American Woodmarket's senior vice president of manufacturing and supply chain services since October 2006, following his role as vice president of global operations at the privately held industrial-diamond supplier Diamond Innovations, Worthington, Ohio, from March 2005 to September 2006.

American Woodmark's brands include Shenandoah Cabinetry, Timberlake Cabinetry, and Waypoint Living Spaces; it operates nine manufacturing facilities and nine service centers nationwide.
