Florida Building Material Association (FBMA) president Bill Tucker has retired from the organization, departing almost one year earlier than previously planned, Tucker revealed today in FBMA's newsletter.
"I am ready to move on; and the association needs to trim expenses.," Tucker wrote in his regular column. "In January of last year, I announced to the FBMA leadership that I would leave the association at the end of 2012. This past month, we reached an agreement to move my departure up. I will provide consultation and support through this coming March but my active employment as the FBMA president is now over."
Tucker joined FBMA in 1992. "We will respect his wishes to the highest level and work very closely with Bill over the next three months for a smooth transition," George Fishtorn, FBMA's 2012 chairman, wrote in a column that followed Tucker's in the newsletter.
Betty Askew remains FBMA's operations director.
