US LBM swept up several types of companies in one deal today with its acquisition of Britton, S.D.-based NexGen Inc. Company president Luke Craft will continue to run the business and all former owners will remain on the executive team, US LBM said.

The NexGen family consists of:

  • Truss Pro's Inc., a supplier of roof and floor trusses and related products, with plans in Britton, S.D.; Pipestone, Minn.; and Rogers, Minn.
  • Britton (S.D.) Home Center, Webster (S.D.) Home Center, and Rogers, Minn.-based Minnesota Building Pros, all of which provide traditional lumberyard products and also host rental centers. The Britton and Webster facilities are home centers, while Minnesota Building Pros caters more toward multifamily builders. (See joint website.)
  • Precision Wall Systems, which makes wall panels at its facilities in Britton, S.D., and Rogers, Minn.

A Dun & Bradstreet website lists NexGen Inc.'s annual revenue at $84 million.
This is US LBM's third major acquisition in the Upper Midwest. In October 2011, it acquired Lyman Lumber, based in Chanhassen, Minn., with operations in Minnesota and Wisconsin. And last March, it acquired Lampert Lumber

, the No. 32 company on the ProSales 100, with 33 full-service lumber and building material sales locations in Minnesota, Iowa, the Dakotas, and Wisconsin.

“We’re thrilled to add these great businesses to the US LBM family,” said L.T. Gibson, President & CEO of US LBM. “By extending our products and services into the Upper Midwest, we can strategically serve the industry in that growing market. We are eager to partner with their associates and look forward to future opportunities together in the region.”
