US LBM staked a claim today to being Florida's biggest building material dealer--at least in number of stores--with its announcement that it has acquired Raymond Building Supply, a five-branch company based in North Fort Myers, Fla.

The move means US LBM now has 30 branches in the Sunshine State and 227 nationwide.

Founded in 1957, Raymond has yards in North Fort Myers, Naples, and North Port, Fla., all on the Gulf Coast and a commercial and residential doors and hardware operation on the Atlantic Coast in Deerfield Beach, Fla. It also has a standalone design center in Naples that won a merit prize in ProSales' 2015 Excellence Awards competition (photo).

"Florida is a vital, expanding market in the building and construction sector," US LBM President and CEO L.T. Gibson said in the company's announcement. "Raymond Building Supply is a market leader with deep relationships and a strong focus on customer service which positions us well in this important market. This acquisition supports our successful strategy of partnering with the best local companies in high-growth markets."

The JIAN Group, LLC acted as the financial adviser to Raymond Building Supply.

US LBM ranks 7th in this year's ProSales 100, with sales in 2015 totaling $2.4 billion, up 69,6% in one year thanks to a huge number of acquisitions that year.
