US LBM today announced it acquired K-I Lumber & Building Materials, a Louisville, Ky.-based distributor of cabinetry, windows and doors, trusses, roofing, siding, and framing materials to markets in Kentucky and southern Indiana.
The company operates two locations in Louisville as well as distribution facilities in Lexington, Ky., and Clarksville and Evansville, Ind. The distributor also owns a truss and wall panel manufacturing facility in Shelbyville, Ky.
This is the third major acquisition this year for US LBM. In May, US LBM acquired the Desert family of companies. In August, the company, which ranked 13th on the 2014 ProSales 100, absorbed the No. 29 company on that list, Feldman Lumber.
"We are excited and proud to join the US LBM team and the opportunity it brings to provide our customers with continued enhancements to our product and service offering,” said K-I president Bob DeFerraro.
The chairman of K-I Lumber. Sherry Freeman, added, “My husband and I put our lives into this business caring deeply about the relationships with our associates, customers and supply partners. We are confident that US LBM will serve as a thoughtful steward leading K-‐I Lumber for many future generations in the same way our family has for the last 82 years."
"K-I Lumber is a great addition to the US LBM family, expanding our strong presence and capabilities in the Southern U.S.," said L.T. Gibson, president and CEO of US LBM. "Having grown up in the Lexington community, I know K-I Lumber as having a dedicated and knowledgeable team of associates that succeed by providing a local feel and focus to their customers. We look forward to expanding on their success."
