SRS Acquisition Corp. added to its collection of roofing product companies today by announcing it has acquired the Denver operation of Shake & Shingle Co., an independent distributor serving the new and re-roofing residential and commercial markets in the Denver area.
"SRS intends to immediately expand on this platform for growth by expanding the inventory, doubling the size of the fleet and expanding the workforce," SRS said in a statement. It announced the purchase just four days after completing its acquisition of Atlanta South Supply Inc., an independent residential and commercial roofing distributor serving the Atlanta metro market.
With the latest acquisition, the company now operates two dozen locations in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Texas, Illinois, Colorado, Washington, and Oregon under the banners of Suncoast Roofers Supply, Southern Shingles, Rowe Supply, Atlanta South Supply, Wilson Wholesale, Stoneway Roofing Supply, and now Shake & Shingle. SRS ranked 29th on the latest ProSales 100, with total sales of $120 million in 2008. At that point, it had only 18 outlets.
"We are excited to gain entry into the Mountain states through the strategic acquisition of Shake & Shingly Supply," Ron Ross, SRS' chief executive officer, said in a statement. "This is a very attractive market long-term that we plan to develop aggressively."
Founded in 1977, Shake & Shingle currently has seven employees in Denver and in Coppell, Texas. The Coppell operation, run by Shake & Shingle owners Robert and Kathy Ingle, isn't part of SRS' purchase.
