Lowe’s has made a bid to buy Rona, a Canadian home improvement store chain. This $2.3 million bid comes just four years after Lowe’s first tried to buy the company. The 2012 bid caused significant political backlash and the deal did not go through. With this bid, Lowe’s seems to have a pretty good shot. Rona’s board supports the decision, Lowe’s plans to keep job cuts minimal, and Rona will remain its own chain underneath Lowe’s umbrella. And while there is still political backlash against this bid, it is likely that Lowe’s will soon increase its presence in Canada.
