Capital Lumber, which bills itself as the West's leading distributor of building materials, announced Sept. 19 it bought the assets of Capitol Plywood's distribution faciilty in Sacramento, Calif., bringing the company its eight location.
Adding the yard will improve and expand service in a part of Northern California that previously was served only by Capital Lumber's facility in Healdsburg, Calif., Capital Lumber president said in a press release. "The acquisition allows us to offer some new customers the product lines we've been known for," he added. "We'll balance inventories in both facilities to broaden our offerings."
Based in Phoenix, Capital Lumber has satellite locations in Tacoma, Wash.; Portland, Ore.; Chino, Calif.; Phoenix; Salt Lake City; and Denver. It has 350 employees and more than 2,000 accounts, including LBM operations and home centers.
