Three executives at lumber and building material operations are among eight people selected recently to receive the North American Retail Hardware Association (NRHA) Young Retailer of the Year award for 2013.

The three LBM dealers recognized are: Meagan McCoy Jones, vice president for field support, McCoy's Building Supply, San Marcos, Texas; Justin Ellis, Builders Do it Center, Roswell, N.M.; and Jeremy Stine, digital marketing and e-commerce manager, Stine Lumber, Lake Charles, La.

The award recognizes achievement by industry retailers up to 35 years old.

McCoy Jones is the fourth generation of the McCoy family to be involved in the business. She was featured in April's ProSales cover story, "Build Your Best Team Ever," and was profiled in ProSales' January 2012 feature, "Leading Ladies."

Ellis also grew up in the building material business. After seriously considering other professions, he decided to stick with LBM. “I wanted to be around the business," NRHA quoted Ellis as saying. "I saw the potential to take what my dad had built and build something even better.

Stine is part of the Sulphur, La., home center and building supply company of the same name. He served as manager of governmental affairs for the National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA) before rejoining the family. One of his first project, designed to promote Father's Day projects, won a merit award in ProSales' 2011 Excellence Award competition.

The winners were announced last month.
