Lumbermens Merchandising Corp. (LMC) has expanded and given more corporate weight to its marketing efforts by hiring two new staffers and promoting Fran Monk from a marketing manager who reported to a divisional vice president to marketing director reporting directly to CEO and president John Somerville.
The changes are part of a "Drive Sales and Drive the Brand" initiative at Wayne, Pa.-based LMC. According to an LMC marketing staffer, the initiative involves helping LMC members with marketing, supporting dealer-to-dealer networking activities, and creating a strong, consistent LMC brand in the industry.
The marketing operation used to have Monk and three other people. Now it will have five plus Monk. The two new jobs include a communications specialist.
LMC bills itself as America's largest forest products and building materials buying group, with more than 1,200 member locations across 48 states and the Bahamas.
