Carter Lumber opened a new location in Charlotte, N.C., to service the region, the company announced today. This is the company's second location in the market.

The new opening from the 12th-largest company in the 2014 ProSales 100 list stokes even more competition in the market; just weeks earlier, Stock Building Supply, the ninth-largest in that list, opened its second Charlotte yard.

According to the 2013 Local Leaders list by our sister publication BUILDER, the Charlotte region is the ninth-busiest housing market in the U.S.

Under the direction of Brandon Kujawski and Brian Massie, the 14-acre lumberyard will sell rough framing lumber and engineered components, but will place a "heavy emphasis" on millwork products.

"Entering the Charlotte market is a natural extension of our progression in the southeast and we look forward to building relationships with customers and being the best lumberyard in the market," said Jeff Donley, Carter Lumber's president and COO.
