Should sales reps be paid totally on commision? ProSales asked that question recently to the more than 3,600 members of our LinkedIn group. Some respondents argued that basing a sales rep’s entire salary on commisions might lead that rep to focus on making a quick buck rather than building a long-term relationship. Some stumped for a combination of minimum base pay plus performance-based commissions. And there were lots of people who said it all depends on situation, location, and business relationships.
