Doug Jones will become president of Edward Hines Lumber Co. when current president Gerry Wille retires on Jan. 31, Hines parent company, US LBM, announced Jan. 10.

Jones has served as the area operations manager at Hines since September. Immediately before that, he was an area vice president at ProBuild, leaving at about the same time that that dealer closed two Chicago-area yards amid a long-term strike by Teamsters. Jones also served in managerial positions at Stock Building Supply and in various management positions at Seigle's, the Chicago-based cabinet distributor.

Wille worked at Hines for 34 years, where he started as a dispatcher. He became president and CEO at the Buffalo Grove, Ill.-based dealer in 2007. "The company has benefited tremendously from Gerry's dedication and hard work," US LBM president and CEO L.T. Gibson said in a statement. "We wish Gerry and his wife, Judy, the best of luck in the coming years."

US LBM acquired Hines in February. Its subsidiaries, which all operate autonomously, give the company 30 locations in six states with over 900 employees.
