We've had yard pets that carried bank bags and located duck tape, but Zoe is the first yard dog we've met that will fetch and place sticks for forklift and truck drivers. Zoe is a chocolate Labrador Retriever who plies her trade at Osborne Lumber Co. in Newark, Calif. Her owner, Osborne finance director Sean Fogarty, says the one drawback to Zoe's stick-fetching skills "is that when you say ‘drop,' she doesn't always put it exactly where it's supposed to be and she usually wants to continue playing fetch and/or chew the stick." Then again, she is just a year old. "I figure with time she will continue to develop," Fogarty says. "... Her next trick is to pick up bands.".
